＊Join a JICHI-KAI (a residents’ association) of your area.

There are a number of residents associations consist of local residents called JICHI-KAI, in Ogaki City.

Joining a resident association will bring the following positive merits to your life in the community.
1 Residents help each other in the event of a disaster.
2 Neighbors watch or patrolling, including watching children going to
and from school will keep the community safe.
3 You can take your house garbage to a nearby garbage station.
4 You can join cleaning activities to keep the community clean.
5 You can participate in community festivals.
6 You can get information about the community.

Ogaki City has prepared a "Living Guidebook for Foreign Residents" in Portuguese, Chinese, English, and "plain Japanese" for foreign residents, which contains useful information for daily life such as garbage disposal and child-rearing.

【４】For an Ambulance or the Police
(1) Dial 119 in case of fire or other emergencies (this includes sudden illness or injury). To contact the police, dial 110 (when you witness a crime or traffic accident).
(2) If you are not confident speaking Japanese, ask for help from someone who can communicate well in Japanese.

■Examples of emergency calls
●119（Fire Station）
・Calling an ambulance is free of charge. Medical treatment at a hospital will be charged.
・Report the emergency clearly.
（1）‘Kyukyu(emergency) desu!’/Kaji(fire）desu!’
（2）‘Basho wa ○○ desu.(I am located at ○○ )’/‘Chikaku ni ○○ ga arimasu.(There is ○○ near here)’← Describe any nearby landmark.
（3）Report the nature of illness or injury.
（4）‘Watashi no namae wa ○○ desu(My name is ○○ )’‘Denwa bango wa ○○ desu(My telephone number is ○○ )’
・Tell the rescue team if you have a specific hospital you wish them to take you to.
・Bring your health insurance card.

●110（Police）
・Dial 110 to report to the police any traffic accident you have been involved in.
・If you do not report an accident to the police, you will not be issued with an accident certificate which is necessary for making an insurance claim.

５　おまつりに 参加(さんか)することが できます。

(1)急(きゅう)な 病気(びょうき)、大(おお)けが、火事(かじ)の ときは でんわ「119」。
交通(こうつう)事故(じこ)、事件(じけん)などに あった ときは でんわ「110」。
(2)日本語(にほんご)が あまり 話(はな)せない 人(ひと)は、日本語(にほんご)が できる 人(ひと)に 通訳(つうやく)を おねがいして ください。

■電話(でんわ)の かけかた
●119（消防署(しょうぼうしょ)）
・急(きゅう)な 病気(びょうき)や 大(おお)けがの ときは 救急車(きゅうきゅうしゃ)を よびます。火事(かじ)の ときは 消防車(しょうぼうしゃ)を よびます。
・救急車(きゅうきゅうしゃ)や 消防車(しょうぼうしゃ)を よぶとき、お金(かね)は いりません。
・救急車(きゅうきゅうしゃ)を よぶときは、119に電話(でんわ)して、(1)病気(びょうき)や けがの ようす、(2)きてほしい ところ（近(ちか)くに 「めじるし」が あれば、その「めじるし」も いいます）、(3)自分(じぶん)の なまえ、(4)自分(じぶん)の 電話番号(でんわばんごう)を いいます。
・消防車(しょうぼうしゃ)を よぶときは、119に 電話(でんわ)して、(2)、(3)、(4)を いいます。
